Kaduna govt counsels residents on regular eye check up

Kaduna State government has called on residents to protect their sights by eating fruits and vegetables such as carrots and spinach. 

A director in the Ministry of Health, Dr Jeremiah Daiko, who represented the director, Public Health of the ministry made the call at an event sponsored by Sightsavers to commemorate the World Sight Day in the state. 

Acting programme manager, Kaduna State Ministry of Health, Sani Yahaya Ikara, said the Eye Child Care programme was initiated in 2017 supported and sponsored by Sightsavers through the offering of free surgeries especially for cataract and also providing glasses to children with refractive errors.

He said some of the beneficiaries, aged 1-16 years, were identified in schools and Primary Health Care centres before being referred to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and the National Eye Centre for treatment.
