Kaduna govt confirms 34 deaths, over 200 houses razed in Sunday attack

Kaduna State Government has confirmed the killing of 34 persons, including two military personnel, and seven people injured in the Sunday attack in the southern part of the state by unidentified assailants. 

The attack occurred in four locations of Tsonje, Agban, Katanga and Kadarko all in Kagoro Chiefdom in Kaura Local Government Area of the state.

A statement signed by the Kaduna State Commissioner on Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said over 200 houses and 32 shops were burnt in the attacks while three vehicles and 17 motorcycles were vandalised.   

Condemning the attack, Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i expressed his condolences to the families of the locals killed. He also condoled with the military and the families of the military personnel killed during the attack. 

“The governor appealed to citizens to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts were sustained to stabilize the area. 

“The Kaduna State Government enjoins all residents to carefully observe the 24-hour curfew in force in the area. The curfew was declared on the advice of security agencies to prevent the escalation of violence.” Said the statement.

“The government is working ceaselessly with security forces to restore normalcy in the area. Deep consultations with stakeholders are also ongoing,” the statement said.
