The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) on Friday, declared the September 4 local government elections in some local government areas in the state inconclusive.
The local governments are Jaba, Kauru Jema’a, Kachia, Soba LGAs.
Recall that Local Government elections were held in 19 local governments areas of the state.
Elections were however postponed in four other local government areas over insecurity.
Addressing a press conference, the Chairman of KADSIECOM, Dr. Saratu Binta Dikko-Audu said the results of the affected LG’s are inconclusive because elections could not hold in some wards.
According to her, “In the case of Jaba LGA, the tribunal will be left to determine the matter because two conflicting results were announced.”
She said one result in Jaba was announced in favour of APC, while another was announced in favour of PDP.
On those that have been confirmed winners, she listed Kauru where the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) scored 19,509 to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with 10,941 votes.
She noted that APC won 14 local local government out of 19 that the election took place.
“Giwa, APC won with the highest vote of 22,896 while PDP got 3,534, Igabi, APC 29,804, PDP 10,865, Sanga Local Government APC scored 21,854 and PDP 12,832 votes, Kaduna North local government, APC scored 16,575 while PDP scored 15,474 votes, Kaduna South Local Government APC scored 19,568 while PDP 17,998 votes, Kagarko Local Government APC scored 20,558 while PDP14,494 votes, Kaura Local Government APC score 10,941 PDP 19,509 votes.
“Kuaru Local Government APC score 27,691 PDP 21,800 votes, Kubau Local Government APC score 23,973 PDP 9038 votes, Kudan local government APC score 18,129 PDP 16,123 votes, Lere Local Government APC scored 36,389 PDP 24,294 vote, Makarfi Local Government APC scored 16,328 PDP 14,739 votes. Sabon Gari Local Government APC scored 32,405 PDP 13,777 votes.
“Soba Local Government results of six ward was received by the commission and it didn’t constitute two third of the votes in the local government. The results was unable to be declared.”
She noted that in Zaria Local Government APC scored 34,06 while PDP got 14,19 votes.
Dr. Saratu said the commission is scheduled to conduct elections in Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Kajuru and Zangon Kataf on September 25.
She added that the commission will also conduct elections in the wards where elections could not hold.
