The cosmopolitan city of Kaduna again became a beehive of activities, as polo action resumed at the foremost Trappco Ranch & resort, for another edition of the ranch’s mini polo tournament.
The event which is the first major tournament since the ease of COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, galloped off in grand style on Thursday, with top Nigerian players drawn from major polo clubs across the country, jostling for honours.
Polo Royals reliably gathered that the event which is organized and hosted by the management of resort led by the President of Kaduna Polo Club, Suleiman Abubakar was part of its contribution to mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary, and as part of efforts to promote the king of games in the city.
The prestigious mini-tournament that features ten equally matched teams with an exciting mix of established names and upcoming players offers three major prizes to be won in the high-goal, medium-goal and the Low-goal Amana Insurance Cup category that pits six ambitious teams in the winners-takes-all polo combat.
The prizes to be contested for include, the event main Cup, The Majidadi Keffi that pits three teams parading some of the best high goal players from Jos, Abuja, Keffi and Kaduna.
Honourable Aliyu Wadada leads his Keffi Ponys parading Bello Buba, Ibrahim Mohammed and Aliyu Tijani, while Chief host and Trappco Ranch patron, Suleiman Abubakar pivot a crack Trappco Ranch squad of Idris Badamasi, Malik Badamasi and Rabiu Mohammed.
The high-goal combatants also include Jos polo kings, Malcomines who are pundits’ favourites to clinch the top prize whose grand finale would be decided this afternoon (Sunday) in Kaduna.
