Armed bandits have killed 222 and raped 20 women from April to June 2021 in Kaduna, according to the second-quarter Security Situation report in the state.
The bandits also abducted 774 persons as well as injured 226 persons among them women and minors within the period under reviewed.

The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan presented the report, noting that 159 people out of the total number killed were from Kaduna Central Senatorial zone which occurred at Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Igabi, Chikun and Kajuru Local government areas of the state.
He said 54 persons were killed in southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone including five women and four minors across Jema’a, Kachia and Kauru LGA’s.
He said the Northern Senatorial Zone recorded 9 deaths within the period.
The Commissioner also explained that among the number abducted were 239 women and 32 minors.
He said the Kaduna Central Zone still leads with 555 kidnapped victims while Northern Senatorial zone recorded 55 victims.
He also mentioned that 87 bandits were killed by security agencies and 24 suspects arrested by the Department of State Services DSS.
” The 20 women raped by bandits include 13 minors below the age of 18 including a seven year old boy in Kudan LGA which is a case of sodomy ,” he said.
Aruwan also said that a total of 8,553 cattles were rustled by the bandits during the period reviewed.
He also explained further that the insecurity, particularly in frontline communities have threatened food security because most farmers in those communities have abandoned their farmlands for fear of being killed or kidnapped for ransom.
He explained that the statistics were gotten from security Agencies in the state.
In his remarks, the State Government Nasir El’rufai sympathised with the victims of banditry in the state as he assured them that “the government is doing everything possible to secure and protect their lives and properties. “
He also condoned the family of security agencies that loss their lives in the fight against banditry across the state.
