Kaduna 4-day working week: CAN warns against salary reduction

The Kaduna State Chapter Chairman of Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Joseph John Hayab, has warned the state government not to reduce workers’ salaries as a result of the new four-day working week policy introduced in the state.

The state government announced the policy for civil servants on Monday, saying the transition will begin today.

But Hayab, in a statement Tuesday advised civil servants in the state not to celebrate the policy yet until they were convinced that there was no hidden agenda behind it.

He said what Kaduna people truly needed from the government was a holistic and honest effort to address insecurity and a true sense of democratic principles of governance with less propaganda.

He wondered why a state not secured would talk about giving workers time for agriculture and their family when bandits were moving about freely, terrorising people in their homes, farms and highways.

He appealed to members of Kaduna State House of Assembly to be on the side of the people and distance themselves from unpopular policies that could bring pain and hardship.
