Kaduna: 10,000 new teachers assume work in 2 weeks

The first batch of newly recruited teachers totaling 10,000 will be engaged and posted to their places of primary assignment by the second week of this month; the executive chairman of Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Nasiru Umar, has said.

He said this yesterday while addressing newsmen on the recruitment of teachers in the state, saying having completed oral interview for the over 24,000 shortlisted applicants, data entry was ongoing.

He further explained that a technical committee would do the selection of successful candidates to be vetted by the main committee before the list would be released to the 23 LGAs for posting to the public primary schools in the state. “10,000 of successful candidates will be deployed in the first batch by mid-February to start work while the exercise continues,” he said.

He recalled that the board received 43,806 applications from candidates and conducted examinations for 36,097 applicants in the 23 local government areas of the state.

“The questions were NCE standards and scripts were marked at NTI conference centre by lecturers from Federal College of Education Zaria and Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya,” he said.
