Kabba crisis: Gov Bello probes police killing of teenager

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has ordered a full investigation into the death of a teenage motorcycle rider and the burning of the Old Police Barracks in Kabba town, the headquarters of Kabba/ Bunu Local Government Area of the state.

Also, the governor called on the angry youths in Kabba to remain calm and allow investigation into the matter.

Daily Trust gathered that pandemonium rocked the ancient city of Kabba on Saturday morning when irate youths in their hundreds stormed the streets to avenge the killing of a young motorcycle rider by a policeman.

Daily Trust learnt the irate youth burnt the old Kabba Police Barrack and disrupted business activities as a result of the incident.

Governor Bello described the incident as unfortunate, warning the people to shun any action capable of disturbing the peace and stability in the state.

He added that his administration and the security authority would not tolerate any act of recklessness that is capable of disrupting the hard-earned peace in the state.

The governor assured all that the circumstances that led to the death of the young cyclist would be uncovered and the culprit would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Governor Bello, therefore, directed the state Commissioner of Police to investigate and punish the erring police officer involved in the killing of the defenceless teenager.
