Juventus are actively monitoring Anthony Martial’s situation at Manchester United, and willing to fight Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid for the French international’s signature if he becomes available in the summer.

While those close to the forward insist his first preference is to stay at Old Trafford, and that the United hierarchy see him as a valuable player for the future, sources around the club say there is a growing expectation that manager Jose Mourinho will seek to further alter his attack in the summer and may see Martial as surplus to requirements.

The 22-year-old has performed inconsistently this season, although that has partially been down to intermittent use, and he hasn’t appeared for United since the 2-0 FA Cup win over Brighton and Hove Albion back in March.

Mourinho did consider letting Martial go to Inter in the summer in exchange for Ivan Perisic, but ultimately decided not to.

He has been frustrated with a perceived lack of application in the striker, and a difference in how they view the role.

Reports in France have stated that Martial has rejected a new contract, although The Independent has been told he would still like to stay.

Juventus have been made aware of the situation, and are keen to do a deal, having been informed that Martial would likely cost around £60m.

They could face competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid, who have both been looking at the player, too.

Tottenham Hotspur have a long-term interest in Martial as well but it is understood United would be particular averse to selling to a Premier League rival.
