The Senator explained that he was at the party secretariat to seek for their support and cooperation.
“I came to inform you of my intention to contest for the governorship seat under the APC. I also need your support to achieve this aim,” he said.
The senator also commended Governor Nasir El-Rufai for moving the state forward.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning in Kaduna, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi (Dattijo), has also declared interest in the 2023 governorship election.
Dattijo, who lauded the achievements of Governor Nasir El-Rufai, said his immediate priority will be on sustaining the current level of achievements, build on them to advance the development of Kaduna State, expand its security and prosperity and grow a vibrant economy that is driven by quality service and transparent leadership.
The former Chief of Staff, who disclosed his intention to run on his Facebook Page on Tuesday, said he has been privileged to learn from Mallam El-Rufai and understudy the thinking behind every policy intervention and decision of the APC government.
“Over the last 7 years, I have had the unique opportunity to work closely with, and support our Governor, Father and Leader- Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai in his efforts to transform our dear state. As even his harshest critics will accept, the period from 2015- date is the most historic development our state has witnessed since its creation.
“With a front seat in government, first as Commissioner, later as Chief of Staff, and again as Commissioner; I have had the privilege to contribute to debate and to understudy the thinking behind every policy intervention and decision of the APC government. I am confident of my ability to sustain all that has been achieved so far and continue to Move Kaduna Forward,” he said.
Asked to unveil his anointed candidate for the Kaduna government house come 2023, when he featured on Channels Television’s Politics Today, El-Rufai had said his preference is in his core team.
“My preference is in our core team; that is the first 11. I said core team because these are the guys that worked with me since 2014 to organise our party, our campaign and we won and got elected,” El-Rufai said.
Sani and Dattijo are in the “first 11”. The senator served as Political Adviser to El-rufai from 2015 to 2019, before he resigned to contest the senate seat.
