Daily Trust reports that the building collapsed around 2am on Thursday amidst a heavy downpour when the building collapsed.

It was gathered that the building collapsed due to overflow of the waterway which affected the building located close to the waterway.

The Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abudullahi, said two persons had been rescued alive so far and taken to the hospital, while two were dead as the rescue operation continued.

The Kano State Emergency Management Agency had said on Wednesday that 31 persons were killed and 5,280 houses destroyed by flooding in the state.
