Teenage herder murdered in Jos

A 14-year -old herder, Idris Idris, has been shot dead in Dong community of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to the State Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Malam Nura Abdullahi, the deceased, was killed on Saturday evening.

He said Abdullahi was attacked while rearing animal but no cow was killed.

He said, “The incident happened around 4:pm. The herders were two but one escaped the attack. We have reported the case to the DPO of Bassa LGA Police Headquarters.

“There is no justification in the killing because the deceased was just rearing the cattle. What has he done to deserve the killing? We can’t continue to be tolerating this kind of dastardly act. We are calling on security agencies to act past to arrest the perpetrators of the act.”

Contacted the Spokesman of the State Police Command, ASP Ubah Gaberiel, on the development, didn’t respond to call and SMS by our correspondent.

Our correspondent reports that killings and counter killings have become the order of the day in villages of Bassa LGA, with Fulani and Irigwe often trading blames.
