Taraba state governor, Darius Ishaku, on Thursday returned to Jalingo, the state capital after spending 87 days outside the state.

He was received by a large crowd of residents and party supporters at the Danbaba Suntai Airport, Jalingo.

Addressing the crowd, which include his deputy, Haruna Manu, and other government officials, the governor cleared the air on the circumstances surrounding his long absence from the state.

Daily Trust reports that his absence from the state had stirred a lot of controversies with some stakeholders calling on him to transmit powers to his deputy, Alhaji Haruna Manu.

Governor Darius said that he had a domestic accident due to power outage in his house and slipped off the staircase, forcing him to travel out of the country for medical treatment and the subsequent stay in Abuja for recuperation.

He explained that his absence from the state  did not affect or stall governance and development as all projects in the state continued as planned and no vacuum was created to warrant the uproar.

He commended the people for standing by him during the period, saying their prayers facilitated his recovery and assured that he will continue to deploy all the resources at his disposal to bring development despite the global tough times.

Darius commended his Deputy, Alhaji Haruna Manu, members of the state executive council and all the members of the state House of Assembly for the support they gave him while he was absence from the state.

He assured Taraba people that his administration will continue with its people-oriented programmes.

Darius also urged the opposition to support his administration in order to achieve the desire development.

“The Dualization project and rural road projects in different parts of the state and all other projects are progressing even when l was absent from the state and this shows that the government is doing well,” Darius said.
