Peter Obi, Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, on Wednesday, paid a visit to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State at his private residence in Port Harcourt.
On arrival, Obi was taken inside where he had a meeting with the governor behind closed doors.
However, both men did not speak on the purpose of the meeting, as journalists were not granted access.
Until his defection to the Labour Party days to the Presidential Primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obi and Wike were presidential aspirants of the PDP.
Wike had gone into the contest but former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar clinched the ticket of the opposition party.
While Obi, who was Atiku’s running mate in 2019, emerged the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
Wike had indicated interest to run on a joint ticket with Atiku but his Delta counterpart, Ifeanyi Okowa, was chosen.
There are reports that Wike is aggrieved and might work against the party in the 2023 elections.
It is unclear if the issue of the PDP primaries was discussed by Obi and Wike.
