The suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen, has arrived at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) where judgement is expected to be delivered in the false and non-declaration of assets charge against him.
Onnoghen and his counsels were earlier at the tribunal by 9am before the tribunal informed them that the judgement has been shifted to 12noon.
As at 11:42am, the chairman of the tribunal and the members were seen making their ways to the tribunal.
However, when they were informed that Onnoghen, who was just arriving the tribunal premises, was not yet inside the tribunal, they retreated to their chambers.
Onnoghen made his way into the tribunal at about 11:55am.
UPDATE…
The tribunal chairman just began reading the ruling in the first motion challenging the jurisdiction of the tribunal.
The motion is based on the decision of the Court of Appeal in the suit between Justice Hyeladzira Nganjiwa and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which the CCT had relied on in dismissing the charge against another justice of the Supreme Court, Sylvester Ngwuta on May 15, 2018.
