Neymar will be Real Madrid’s marquee transfer target – but not this summer, according to Guillem Balague.
Real Madrid are said to be keen on the 26-year-old – the front-running candidate to dominate Ballon d’Or voting once Messi and Los Blancos ace Cristiano Ronaldo retire – as one of few clubs that could finance such a mega deal.
But amid suggestions that Madrid would be willing to fund a transfer that would once again break the world transfer record in the coming months, Balague insists any move is far more likely in 12 months’ time.
“There has been a lot of talk on Neymar and how Real want to get him away from PSG,” he wrote in his Sky Sports column.
“Real would quite clearly like to get Neymar on board, but I don’t think it is going to be possible this summer.
“From PSG the message is clear: he is going to stay. He has taken a picture with the new shirt, saying he’s looking forward to wearing the shirt with PSG.”
