JUST IN: Kidnapping: Evans, co-defendant bags 78 years

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo sitting at the Ikeja Special Offences Court on Monday convicted kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans and his accomplice Victor Aduba a dismissed soldier guilty of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and illegal possession of firearms.

In a judgment that lasted for about an hour, the court sentenced Evans to a total of 52 years and the second defendant got 26 years jail term.

The victim, Sylvanus Ahanonu was kidnapped in Lagos in June 2014 and was made to pay over 420,00 USD as ransom.

The sentences are to run concurrently as Evans is facing five different kidnap charges.
