The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Bauchi State governorship election inconclusive.

In an address after the collation, the state’s INEC Returning Officer, Professor Mohammed Kyari, said that the result was declared inconclusive in line with the provision of Section 26 and 53 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

He added that the Commission will conduct a Supplementary election in Tafawa Balewa local government area 21 days as required by law.

The result of Tafawa Balewa was earlier cancelled due to violence, intimidation and other irregularities as revealed by the local government Collation Officer, Mrs Dominion Anosike.

Professor Kyari also informed that the number of cancelled votes has also exceeded the margin between the PDP and the APC which stood at 4,059 votes.

Meanwhile, PDP had 469,512 votes while the APC had 465,453 votes.

APC won in 13 local government areas which include Giade, Warji, Ningi,  Jama’are, Itas/Gadau ,Katagum,  Gamawa,  Shira,  Toro,  Kirfi, Darazo, Ganjuwa and Dass.

The PDP however won in six local governments which include: Bauchi, Bogoro, Alkaleri, Misau, Dambam and Zaki local government areas.

The margin in most of the LGAs won by APC was narrow while the PDP won with a slightly wider margin in the LGAs it won, our reporter observed.

Declaring the results, Professor Kyari said that a total of 1,048,220 votes was cast in the election with valid votes totalling 1,026,801.

21,419 votes were rejected while 45,312 votes were cancelled.
