An early morning fire on Monday, razed down at least 40 shops in Gboko Main Market in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.
Witnesses said the fire started at about 3:30 am and continued for nearly two hours before it was brought under control.
A trader, Gabriel Udoh, said that no life was involved but property worth several millions of naira were burnt.
It was however, gathered that the inferno may have occurred as a result of an electrical fault from one of the shops.
The areas affected in the market include, Onitsha Line, TBT Line and the designated area for women who sell food stuffs among others.
