Sununu noted that this year, 52 candidates (2 candidates from Lagos State and 50 candidates from Rivers State) were involved in examination malpractice.

He said for the FGA examination, 2,649 candidates registered for the examination and 2,336 candidates sat for the examination while 313 candidates were absent.

“The highest score is 180 while the lowest is 5,” he said.

While commending Lagos for maintaining the lead with the highest number of candidates of over 17, 000 over time, Sununu also applauded Zamfara for improving from being at the lowest in the last few years and contributing over 2000 to over 4000 candidates this year.

He said not just Zamfara but that North is is lagging behind with about 18,000 participation, which equal to that of Lagos participation alone.

The Minister maintained that the admission criteria for selection of qualified candidates into Federal Unity Colleges remain the same, as 60 per cent Merit , 30 per cent Equality of State and 10 per cent Exigency.

“Now that the results have been released, the Senior Secondary Education Department should ensure that all admission processes are concluded timely and in line with the above criteria,” he said.

The minister also commended the National Council of Examination (NECO) for conducting credible examination, saying it goes to show how the examination is widely accepted.
