The Department of State Services (DSS) has released Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, a former media aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State.
Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, one of the brothers of Salihu, confirmed this in a tweet on Monday night.
He tweeted “Alhamdulillah my brother is freed, thank you all for your prayers.”

The DSS had arrested Salihu on Friday. The agency picked him up hours after he criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over insecurity.
However, hours after his arrest, Ganduje relieved Yakasai of his appointment.
The commissioner of Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, who communicated the governor’s directive through a statement on Saturday, said the dismissal was based on Yakasai’s “continued unguarded comments and utterances which are deemed contrary to the stand of the All Progressive Congress (APC) government which he is serving.”
