Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdurrasheed Bawa, has lost his mother.
Details of her death are sketchy but Daily Trust gathered that Hajiya Hadiza Ahmed Bawa passed on in Sokoto, on Wednesday night.
The anti-graft czar confirmed her death to Daily Trust but did not go into details.
“She died in UDUTH Sokoto and will be buried in Jega, Kebbi inshaAllah around 2:30pm,” he told our correspondent via telephone.
Daily Trust understands that plans are being made to convey her to remains to Kebbi State, where funeral rites would hold later, on Thursday.

Bawa, the first civilian to head EFCC, was nominated as substantive Chairman of the commission on February 16, 2021, and was subsequently confirmed by the National Assembly.
President Bola Tinubu suspended him from office in July.
