The abducted mother of the Kano Central Senatorial aspirant, under the All Progressive Congress (APC), Abdussalam Abdulkarim AA Zaura, has been freed from gunmen and united with her family in Kano.
Daily Trust reports that the aged mother of the senatorial candidate, Hajiya Laure Mai Kunu, was abducted by gunmen at her house in the early hours of Monday at Zaura town, Ungogo Local Government Area in Kano State.

It was gathered that she was abducted by three armed men who were said to have arrived on a motorcycle. The abductors later contacted the family that they were in Katsina state.
However, a day after her kidnap, Chairman of the LG Council, Abdullahi Garba Ramat announced that she has regained her freedom.
“Alhamdulillah, Hajiya Laure – the mother of AA Zaura who was kidnapped and whisked away to an unknown destination has just been rescued safe and sound!! Prayer would always perform magic even magician gets dismayed,” he posted on his Facebook page.
Also, AA Zaura confirmed her release on his Facebook page where he posted to appreciate people and security operatives for their contributions to her release.
“I want to thank the DSS, Air Force, Police and Civil Defense for stepping on their toes until the release of my mother. I will never stop the good deed I’m doing for Kano. I believe as a Muslim, I must be tested in many ways,” he said.
Speaking to Daily Trust, Chairman of the council, Engnr Abdullahi Garba Ramat said she was freed by the operatives of the DSS and that she was rescued in Jigawa state.
“She was rescued alive and healthy and they (DSS) have since brought her back to Kano. There is nothing like payment of ransom, she was rescued by security personnel.”
