Kaseem Balarabe, son of the founder of The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), late Balarabe Musa,  has described Nigeria’s Democracy as a disappointment.

According to him, the problems bedeviling the nation since its return to democracy shows the country is currently witnessing its darkest moment.

Kaseem, whose late father served as the governor of old Kaduna State in the 80s, paid tribute to pro-democracy activists who fought the military regime to ensure democracy returned to Nigeria.

He said, “So many prominent leaders who fought for good governance through democracy including my late father went to jail, with their families traumatized, but yet the country of their dreams is yet to be achieved.”

“Nigeria’s Democracy is a disappointment in the sense that our parents, Late Balarabe Musa and late Gani Fahemi, and other pro-democracy activists who fought for democracy, expected democracy to better the lives of Nigerians after the military era, but that is not the case.”

He said Nigeria had the best opportunity to do better with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is in power after sacrificing his resources alongside others to ensure the of democracy, but he has failed to tackle the challenges facing the country.

The young politician said Nigerians cannot even buy food to eat with a bag of maize now going for almost ₦100,000, adding that things are very expensive.

He further urged the president to step aside if he cannot take Nigeria to the promised land.
