Jumia transport manager arraigned for alleged theft of N1.17m

A transport manager with Jumia Services Limited, Mr Lawal Ganiyu, was yesterday arraigned before the Ogba magistrate court in Lagos for allegedly stealing N1,170,915 million, property of his employer.

The prosecutor, Inspector Victor Eruada, said that Ganiyu, who is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, committed the offences between October 16 and 17, 2018 at No. 1, Surulere Street, Ogba, Lagos.

The prosecutor alleged that the accused stole a PS4 game valued at N118,990, two 32-inch televisions valued at N62,500 each, one 43-inch television valued at N109,125, a 24-inch television valued at N33,537, a microwave valued at N16,666, a kettle valued at N2,285, two laptop bags valued at N3,590, a cutlery set valued at N2,059 and a cylinder cable valued at N1,037, all items property of Jumia Services Limited.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs M.I Dan-Oni, granted him bail of N200,000, with two sureties and adjourned the case till December 10, 2018 for further hearing.
