Judges and lawyers have continued to mourn the legal luminary, Oladipupo Akanni Rotimi-Williams (SAN), who died recently.

Rotimi Williams, the eldest child of late Chief FRA Williams and a former secretary of the Patriots, died on October 3, aged 75.

Speaking during a special valedictory court session in Lagos on Tuesday, the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kassim Alogba, described the late Chief Ladi William as a highly disciplined lawyer whose contributions to the legal profession in Nigeria cannot be waved aside.

“Throughout his life, he identified himself with the masses. He was at home with the poorest in society. He was one of the top 100 SANs. His interest in the welfare of the ordinary Nigerian citizens led him to join the Patriot where he served as secretary for the group,” the CJ said.

Also speaking, Olasupo Shasore (SAN), who spoke on behalf of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) described Williams’ death as a huge loss to the family, to the Bar and to the legal profession.

“If you read through many of the most prominent law reports, you will find his name there. A mentor to many,” he said.

“For 46 years, his name has consistently been on the pages of the nation’s law reports.”

The Chairman NBA Ikeja, Bartholomew Agbogodo, in his remarks said Williams was an outstanding legal practitioner who was a mentor to many.
