Residents of Ibbi town, the headquarters of Ibbi Local Government Area (LGA) of Taraba State have commended the federal government for mobilising contractors for the construction of Ibbi bridge across River-Benue.
The residents, who were excited following the arrival of teams of engineers, other workers and equipment to the project site in Ibbi town, trooped out in celebration to welcome workers who arrived the town on Monday.

The chief of Ibbi, Alhaji Abubakar Danbawuro, told Daily Trust in an interview that the award of the contract for the construction of the bridge by the federal government was a dream that came true to Ibbi and Taraba State people as a whole.
He said Ibbi community and entire people of southern Taraba have been yearning for a bridge to be constructed on River Benue in Ibbi for the past 50 years.
The monarch stated that past administrations had all promised to build the bridge but without fulfilling the vow.
He said the bridge, when constructed, would serve as a short cut between Taraba and Adamawa states to the federal capital territory, Nasarawa, Plateau and Kaduna among other states in the country.
Alhaji Danbawuro commended President Muhammadu Buhari, members of the Federal Executives Council and the National Assembly for approving funds for the project.
“We appreciate the roles played by the Aku-Uka Wukari, Dr Shekarau Agyu, Governor Darius Ishaku and all stakeholders in the state for making the project to come to reality,” the monarch said.
He advised Ibbi community to support and cooperate with the workers of the company handling the construction of the bridge.
The monarch also urged the federal government to sustain the tempo to see the project to its logical completion.
The chairman of Ibbi LGC, Mr. Bala Bako, also commended the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for awarding the contract and mobilising contractors to the project site.
A representative of RCC, the company handling the project, Samuel Wayas, said with their mobilisation to site, the project has already commenced, adding however that the speed of the work depends on the federal government’s commitment to it.
Wayas, appealed to the residents of the area to be hospitable to the staff handling the project, promising that the company will engage a lot of youths in the area to benefit from the project.
