Earlier, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Campaign Center (JMCC), Colonel Rabe Abubakar had said the two suspects whose names were given as Messrs Omole Sedimigho, 44 from Warri South local government and Reuben Gbotonye, 36 from Warri South-West local government, were arrested at about 2 am with explosives when they were heading towards the oil pipelines.

Col. Abubakar said two electric batteries, chemicals and dynamites were among the equipment found with the suspects in the boat they were allegedly sailing in and heading towards the pipeline installations. He said the two suspects have already made confessional statements admitting that they were out to vandalise pipelines.

But MEND in their online statement, said they have succeeded in blowing up the oil wells and are also targeting other wells and oil installations in the area. Militants have in recent time, succeeded in blowing some oil installations in the region
