The suspects were arrested following a tip-off at a checkpoint at Bomadi, Delta state. They were carrying substances suspected to be crude oil. The suspects are Mr Johnson Obi, Mr Paul Omokaro and Mr Amos Patrick.

The JTF spokesman, Col. Rabe Abubakar, said the task force is firmly committed to the observance of the rule of law, hence it abhors keeping suspects beyond  the legal provision. “Furthermore, we wish to reassure the general public that the task force maintains its zero tolerance stance on illegal oil bunkering and other related criminal activities in the Niger Delta”, Col. Abubakar emphasised.
