A seasoned broadcast journalist in Osun State, Mr Bamidele Salaam has won the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal constituency.
In the keenly contested primary election, Salam polled 226 votes to defeat his co-aspirant, Mr Ayo Asalu who scored 194 votes.
Salaam was a journalist with Osun State Broadcasting Corporations (OSBC) and he served as Special Adviser on Media to former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola before he was elected as the Chairman of Egbedore Local Government of Osun state.
The victory of Salaam in the primary election which gave him the PDP ticket could guarantee him the seat at the lower chamber of the National Assembly given the fact that Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore local government areas are strongholds of PDP particularly with the factor of the governorship candidate of the party, Senator Ademola Adeleke in that axis.
Speaking with newsmen immediately after being declared winner of the race, Salam said he dedicates the victory to God and promised to run an issue-based campaign ahead of the general election in February.
He thanked the Adeleke political dynasty of Osun state and all leaders of the party in the Federal Constituency for the opportunity to represent the people of Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal.
He promised to rededicate himself to offering selfless service for the advancement of good governance, development and the welfare of the People.
