Jos: School cuts down trees despite Lalong’s planting campaign

Government Secondary School, Yelwa, Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau, is cutting down trees despite the recent planting campaign of trees by Governor Simon Lalong.

Our correspondent who visited the school observed that many trees were cut down, adding that a source alleged that the trees were cut down on the authority of the school management.

When contacted, the principal of the school, Mr. Benjamin Vyabon, said, “Please, I don’t want to comment on this. Are they economic trees or they are wild trees. This is something that is within my domain, within my jurisdiction.”

Lalong had in September flagged off a 250,000-tree planting campaign statewide.
