Jos Killings: Security personnel to go after people attacking innocent citizens

The local authority of Jos North Local Government Area, on Sunday, said it will go after any person who attacks innocent citizens and fish them out to face the full wrath of the law.

The authority also said it would arrest residents of the community or area where the event took place for appropriate sanctions if the suspects escape.

This development is coming in the wake of the August 14 attack on Fulani travelers around Gada-biyu – Rukuba road of Jos North LGA and the subsequent disturbances in other communities.

Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area,  Shehu Bala Usman, made the declaration following the review of the curfew imposed by the Plateau State Government.

The Chairman said the administration of Governor Lalong had invested so much towards the attainment of peace in the area, warning that his administration would not allow any individual or groups who are bent on sabotaging the government’s efforts to destroy such gains.

He warned that his administration would no longer tolerate any act that could cause havoc and pain on innocent citizens, reiterating that whoever is found wanting no matter their status would be dealt with within the ambit of the law.

He, therefore, appeal to traditional, community, and religious leaders, development and youth organisations as well as officials of tricycle and the Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers, Jos North and well-meaning individuals to assist the government in sensitizing their followers on the need to live in peace and to report any strange movement to security operatives.
