The Jos Electricity Distribution PLC (JED) is initiating a bilateral partnership with Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited (MESL) to procure additional power to improve electricity supply in its franchise area.

The Managing Director of JED, Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed, stated this after he paid a courtesy visit to the management of MESL in Abuja.

Mohammed, during the visit, said the Distribution Company (DisCo) was determined to live up to its mandate of delivering qualitative and reliable electricity supply to its franchise states of Bauchi, Benue, Gombe, and Plateau.

He said to achieve that feat effectively, there was the need to concretize arrangements on power procurement from a very credible and solid enterprise.

Mohammed also said JED would soon become the best Disco in energy distribution in the country owing to the quantum of investments by the new owner and asserted that the visit was centred on effective collaboration between the two companies.

His words: “The visit to the headquarters of Mainstream Energy was to initiate discussions on bilateral power procurement and other investment-related issues”.

The DisCo head also said the visit was prompted by a directive by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) that all the 11 Discos should commence engagement with the Generation Companies (GenCos) for bilateral power procurement. “We are here in line with this directive,” he added.

Responding, the Managing Director of MESL, Engr. Lamu Audu, said the GenCo was open and ready to support the actualization of the bilateral energy supply.
