Residents of Tudun Wada Community of Jos North LGA of Plateau State have protested at the headquarters of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED), over what they described as outrageous electricity billing by the company.
The residents, who stormed the company’s headquarters, complained that JED was charging them very high and they had complained severally but nothing had been done about it.
They also complained that the ongoing mass metering by the company has not reached their area.
Geoffrey John Gotep, Chairman Tudun Wada Forum, who spoke on behalf of the community, demanded a review of the charges and the installation of meters in their houses within one month.
The community further demanded that all debts be cancelled.
In his response, Engr. Mansur Salihu Nakade, Chief Commercial Officer of the company, assured on addressing the demands of the community, adding that meters would be installed in houses soon.
He said the delay was caused by shortage of the meters.
