Jos Crisis: Abia begins evacuation of students

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has dispatched a team to evacuate students of Abia origin in Plateau State.

Some Abia students are currently stranded as a result of the recent violence and subsequent closure of the University of Jos.

In a Statement made available by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the government said Special Assistant to the governor on Students Affairs, Mr Chibuzo Ndom, is the leader of the delegation to Plateau.

According to him, the contingent from Abia, which includes security personnel are expected to ensure the safe return of the over 200 students of Abia origin back to the state capital, Umuahia, where the evacuees will be welcomed by the Governor.
