Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s elder sister, Madam Obebhatein Jonathan, has died at the age of 70.

Jonathan’s media office confirmed this in a statement, stating that she died on Thursday, at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, after a brief illness.

According to the statement, the deceased, popularly known as Amissi, was a former teacher, businesswoman, loving mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to God and humanity.

She was a devout Christian, a good woman, and a role model for many people both inside and outside of her community.

The announcement also stated that the burial has been arranged for Tuesday, February 16th, 2024, and that the family will disclose the details of the funeral ceremony.

Madam Obebhatein Jonathan is survived by three children, siblings, and her mother, Mama Eunice Afeni-Jonathan.
