Uzodimma who is on the Nigerian President’s delegation to the General Assembly, said   the speech has  rekindled the hope that Nigeria was gradually getting out of the woods and is opening up new frontiers for investments and diplomatic relations.
Uzodimma said the aspect of the speech which touched on the democratization and reform in the global body, especially the Security Council, was apt and reassuring.
A statement yesterday in Abuja by his media aide, Hon. Declean Mbadiwe quoted Uzodimma as saying by the declaration, President Jonathan has made it clear to leaders of developed democracies that they should first demonstrate democratic tendencies in their institutions before asking others to follow.
The Senator who represents Imo West Senatorial district also  said Jonathan’s  call was desirable for the enthronement of justice, equity, and fairness; and also for the promotion of a sense of inclusiveness and balance.
He commended the President for being able to get the endorsement of ECOWAS and the AU for the Security Seat, nothing that it was no mean achievement.
Uzodimma said the Jonathan’s speech which also dwelt on eradication of poverty, hunger, disease and human misery, drew the applause of other world leaders and participants at the event, an indication that Nigeria was now in the front burner when global issues were discussed.
