He made the call yesterday in Abuja while receiving the African Students Union Parliament (ASUP) pan African servant leadership award.
“I call on the Muslim community and Nigerians to support Mr. President’s idea of national conference because it will help in restoration of peace and unity of the country,” Tahir said.
He said it is part of Islamic teachings to indulge in dialogue to solve crisis or challenges.
Tahir also said the federal government was planning to commission 400 almajiri schools by 2015 in addition to the 101 already commissioned in some parts of the country.
He commended President Jonathan on his commitment to religions affairs which led to the creation of his office and that of the SSA on Christian affairs to ensure that peace reign in the country.
