Addressing a rally in Jalingo yesterday, he promised to develop the Mambilla Plateau and make it a tourist site if re-elected, adding that $1 billion counterpart fund had been released for the building of the Mambilla hydropower project.
Jonathan said when completed, the project would provide jobs for youths in the state.
He said his administration had invested a lot in the building of the Kashimbilla dam project which he said would boost power supply and help in irrigation activities when completed.
Jonathan said his administration also ensured the establishment of a federal university in the state to enable people access education and become productive in society.
Meawhile, over 100 thugs yesterday attacked the Taraba State secretariat of the PDP along Barde Way in Jalingo. The attack happened while President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaigned at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in the city
The thugs damaged virtually all window glasses and broke the windscreens of 10 vehicles belonging to party officials parked at the premises.
State PDP spokesman, Napoleon Adamu, said the thugs were from Anguwan Gadi area of Jalingo.
He said the attack took place while party officials and supporters were attending President Jonathan’s rally.
Party officials whose vehicles were vandalised however fingered the APC but the APC state chairman, Alhaji Hassan Ardo Jika, dismissed the allegation, saying the party loves peace and does not embark on such ventures.
Our correspondent gathered that there was an earlier threat by some aggrieved youths to disrupt yesterday’s rally over an alleged non release of their allowances.
