This is contained in the Appropriation Bill 2014 which President Goodluck Jonathan, through the Co-ordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, recently laid before the two chambers of the National Assembly.
The breakdown of the appropriation bill reveals that the president wants the National Assembly to approve N200.83 million for the State House foodstuff/catering materials supply and another N162.6 million for its refreshments/meals.
This is in addition to the N9.4 million set aside for the State House cooking gas/fuel cost.
Details of the budget reflects that the State House’s office stationeries will gulp N188.4 million; books, N5.8 million; purchase of library books and equipment, N10.7 million; and teaching aids/instructional materials, N2.3 million
The budget also shows that drugs and medical supplies for the State House will gulp N200.8 million; purchase of health/medical equipment, N105.7 million; and another N29.4 million for medical expenses.
According to the new appropriation bill, sporting activities for the State House will gulp N15.2 million; while another N18.8 million will be spent on the purchase sporting/gaming equipment.
The bill also shows that N48.8 million will be splashed on consultancy and professional services, N15.48 million on newspapers, N2.87 million on magazines and periodicals, N68.377 million on electrical charges, N41.542 million on telephone charges, N21.190 million on internet access charges, and N18.163 on uniforms and other clothing for the State House.
State House honorarium and sitting allowance will gulp N320 million; publicity and advertisements, N33 million; purchase of canteen/kitchen equipment, N131.750 million; purchase of residential furniture, N52 million; purchase of office furniture and fittings, N24.455 million; purchase of computers, N80.250 million; and purchase of computer printers, N2.434 million.
Further details of the budget indicate that N138.9 million will be spent on the maintenance of motor vehicle/transport equipment, N79.950 million on motor vehicle fuel cost, N17.4 million on office furniture maintenance, N42 million on  IT equipment maintenance and N72.206 million on “other maintenance services” of the State House
