Jollof rice shared in Enugu polling booth

A large quantity of jollof rice was shared to voters at Likee Ekutara Ward, Iheaka, Igboeze South LGA of Enugu State during the governorship and state assembly polls on Saturday.

Likee Agutara Ward,Iheaka is where the state chairman of the PDP, Ikeji Asogwa hails from, and it was said that he might not be unconnected with the sharing of rice to the voters.
The rice was packed in sacks and “Ghana-Must-Go” bags, and conveyed to the voting centre in a Hilux van.

Almost all the voters at the polling centre got a “take-away-pack” of the jollof rice which they described as “very delicious.”
” I don’t usually like jollof rice, but I enjoyed eating this one because it is well cooked and delicious,” said one of those who ate the rice but did not want to mention his name .

Although nobody confirmed the real motive behind the sharing of rice to the electorate, it was believed it was aimed at inducing them to vote  for a particular party.

INEC officials, it was observed, did not partake in sharing or eating of the jollof rice, apparently because the commission usually provides them with a meal and water.
