Join hands with Alia to develop Benue, Ganduje tells opposition

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has asked opposition parties in Benue State to join hands with Governor Hyacinth Alia, to fast-track the socio-economic development of the state.

Ganduje in a congratulatory message to Alia on Tuesday on his victory at the Supreme Court said the ruling was a confirmation of both the “Perfect will of God and the undeniable choice” of the Benue people.

In the statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, the former Kano State governor said the decision of the apex court “Reinforces the confidence our people have in the judiciary. This is a good development for the advancement of democracy in our dear nation Nigeria. The APC and our teeming supporters in Benue State are satisfied with the transparent and accountable leadership you have exhibited since you took the oath of office and allegiance on May 29, last year.

In a related development, the Secretary to the Government of Benue State, Prof. Joseph Alakali, has said Governor Alia will now concentrate on delivering good governance as there were no more distractions following his victory at the apex court.

He described the election litigation as a strength for Nigeria’s democracy, urging the PDP candidate in the last governorship election, to cooperate with Gov. Alia in moving the state forward.

The SSG through his media aide, Philip Salemkaan, further urged the PDP and its governorship candidate to jettison political affiliation and prioritise good governance and make useful contributions where necessary.
