US President, Joe Biden, has tested positive for COVID-19.
The 81-year-old President last tested positive for COVID-19 in 2022.
The White House, in a statement on Thursday by its Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, said Biden is “vaccinated and boosted and he is experiencing mild symptoms, including a runny nose, cough, and general malaise.”
The positive test came following an event Biden attended in Nevada, according to the statement.
It noted that Biden will be returning to his private residence in Delaware, “where he will self-isolate and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time.”

“The White House will provide regular updates on the President’s status as he continues to carry out the full duties of the office while in isolation,” Jean-Pierre said.
The statement added that the President’s schedule will be adjusted to ensure his safety and the safety of those around him.
This comes amidst the ongoing debates surrounding Biden’s mental acuity and physical condition ahead of the November presidential election.
