Jobberman, Mastercard to train 5m job seekers

Jobberman, an online job placement and training platform, is partnering with the Mastercard Foundation to train five million job seekers and place three million in dignified employment by 2025, the Organisation’s Northern Youth Engagement Liaisons, Makkiyah Suleiman, has said.

Speaking at a Women and Leadership mentoring session in Kano, Makkiyah said the focus will be on impacting 70 per cent of young women and young people living in the North.

“The aim is to provide Nigerian job seekers with the skills they will need to enhance their chances of securing work in an overcrowded job market, as well as place them in dignified work.”

She said the training will focus on soft skills such as emotional intelligence, business etiquette and time management.

Since the launch of the soft-skills training programme, over 16,000 youngsters have successfully been placed in dignified work between April and June 2020, which is a 78 per cent increase from the 9,000 placed during the same period in 2019.

“Jobberman will establish a baseline of the state of employability of young Nigerians by conducting a skills gap analysis of the labour market in agriculture, digital and creative industries.

“It will cultivate employability skills through training centres, online classes/webinars, career fairs and events and placing of job seekers in various roles across the agriculture, digital and creative industries among others,” she said.
