Residents of Jikwoyi, a suburb in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), have decried the high rate of armed robbery attacks in the area, describing the situation as “worrisome.”
Some of the residents who spoke to our reporter said the community has been living in fear owing to incessant robbery attacks.
City News gathered that recently, a resident, Emmanuel White, was robbed along prayer road in the area at about 7:30p.m.while coming back from work.
White said: “I was coming back from work when two hoodlums double crossed me on a bike and brought out a dagger and threatened to stab me if I resisted.”
He added that the sum of N2,000 was collected from him before the robbers fled on  a motorcycle. Similarly, a civil servant who craved anonymity told City News of how she was robbed while coming back from work.
She said: “Some few days back while I was coming back from the town at about 8:45p.m. due to the hold up along the Nyanya axis, I was robbed before Government Secondary School Karu  by a hoodlum who threatened to stab me if I did not co-operate with him.”
Reacting, the divisional police officer, Chief Superintendent Ekho-J said he will make sure that there will be police presence in Jikwoyi and its environs, saying he plans to achieve that by introducing foot and vehicular police patrol. He also stated that he resumed work as the DPO few days ago and has started strategizing on ways to make Jikwoyi crime free.
