The Jigawa State Government has announced plans to invest over N1.2 billion in electricity infrastructure upgrade and repair across nine towns.
The project, aimed at enhancing power supply and supporting economic growth, is expected to be completed within the next three months.
The Managing Director of the Jigawa State Rural Electricity Board, Engr. Sani Zubairu, disclosed this during the bid opening ceremony for the 2024 electrification projects held on the board’s premises in Dutse.
Speaking to newsmen, Engr. Zubairu explained that the project would focus on upgrading transmission lines, transformers and distribution network across the selected towns.

He said, “Jigawa State has prioritised this electrification project to foster economic growth, improve living standards and create jobs.” He added that areas such as Balangu, Kafin Hausa and Gwaram were set to benefit from improved power supply, reduced outages and a boost in economic activities.
