The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the contract sum of N6 billion for the construction of 500 housing units of two bedrooms each.
The Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports and Culture, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this to journalists shortly after the council meeting presided over by Governor Umar Namadi.
Musa said the approval followed the deliberation on a memo presented by the commissioner, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Regional Planning, on the need to address the accommodation deficit among residents in the state.
The commissioner explained that the project was part of the proposal for the 1,500 housing units to be constructed by the present administration, adding that the project is a three-phase project of 600 housing units to be constructed in Dutse, the state capital, and 200 units in Hadejia.
