Jigawa State Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar yesterday said his government had started test running its Independent Power Project (IPP), saying by next week, the project would be supplying the state four megawatts of electricity.
The governor told newsmen in Dutse that the state capital would be the first to benefit from the project. He added that the project would generate power capable of supplying the state 12 hours of electricity while the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) would supply the state the remaining 12 hours.
According to him, with the introduction of prudent management of resources, the state government was able to save a lot of money on the project without compromising the standard, adding that before any financial measure was taken a lot of consultation was made.
