The Jigawa State government said it has released N5.5 billion for the construction of a permanent site for the College of Nursing Science in Hadejia.

Governor Umar Namadi disclosed this at the weekend while laying the foundation stone for the project.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising the health sector.

“We recognise the critical role that nurses play in our healthcare system, and we are determined to provide them with the best possible training and resources,” Governor Namadi said.

The project, set to be completed within 18 months, will include state-of-the-art facilities such as lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, and students’ accommodation.

The college, he said, would have the capacity to accommodate 500 students and would offer a variety of programmes, including diploma and degree courses in nursing science.

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa, said the college would provide quality education for nursing students and help address the shortage of skilled nurses in the state.
