The Jigawa State committee on flood disaster assessment, fundraising, palliative distribution and establishment of the state flood trust fund has raised over N1 billion from various donations.

The money was raised during the launching of its appeal fund in Dutse on Saturday to assist the victims of flood in the state.

The state governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Badaru, said the state government donated N250m and he and his family on behalf of Talamis Group of Company donated N25m.

He also said Dantata company donated N200m and promised to provide more and Abdul Samad Rabiu of BUA Group of Company also donated N200m.

However, Aliko Dangote who was absent sent a message that the committee should expect his donation soon and sympathized with the state, particularly the victims of flood across the state.

Governor Badaru expressed his sincere appreciation towards the donation and urged the committee to be fair in the distribution of the palliatives and the money raised.

In his response, the committee chairman, Alhaji Bashir Muhammad Dalhatu (Wazirin Dutse) thanked the government, the group, companies and individuals who contributed in cash and kind to the flood victims and assured that no single kobo will be left unaccounted for.

Others who contributed to the fund include the House of Representative members of the state, the state House of Assembly members, 27 local government chairmen in the state, Zenith Bank, Jaiz Bank, FCMB, Sterling Bank, GT Bank, Unity Bank, Gerawa company, organizations, groups and individuals, among others.
